Thoughts on Romance as the Heat Index Rises

I open my mouth and, despite the world,
use it almost daily to fall in love.

This is so direly human of meó
so egregiously alive. I feel

lucky to hold my partnerís skin
and their hunger on my tongue

always. I am thankful that, most
mornings, the day still opens

its mouth
for both of us.
